Crossover Rumble

Discussion in 'Creation Station' started by Wonder Smash, Oct 28, 2012.

  1. I've been feeling very nostalgiac the past few months, replaying games, watching playthroughs, and even looking stuff up on Wikipedia. During this nostalgiac period, I've been thinking of a fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros.

As I'm sure most of us know, Super Smash Bros is a video game created by Nintendo where dozens of Nintendo characters gather together to beat the crap out of each other. The roster contains its most popular characters, including Mario and Link, but also contains characters only diehard Nintendo fans would even recognize, like Ness and the Ice Climbers, as well as plenty of character in between, such as Kirby and Marth.

So what is Crossover Rumble? Well, think Super Smash Bros, but with the characters being chosen from all corners of fiction. Keep in mind that this is just and idea thread. I don't plan on actually creating this in any shape or form. Still, wouldn't it be awesome to imagine seeing your current favorite video game character, your favorite video game character from your childhood, your all-time favorite cartoon character, and your favorite superhero, among others, fighting each other in your favorite movie location?

So where do you come in? If you have any ideas for playable characters, stages, items, game modes, or anything else you can think of, you can post them in this thread. I'll give more details on submitting soon.

    Gameplay:

The gameplay is similar to Super Smash Bros, where characters fight on a stage and attempt to knock each other off of it. Unlike Super Smash Bros, there are no percentage meters. Instead, there is a "Rumble Meter" that acts in a similar fashion. It starts completely empty, but fills up as you deal and take damage. At first, your attacks will barely hurt your enemy, and your enemy's attacks will barely hurt you. As the fight continues, and your Rumble Meter fills up, you can cause more and more damage, until you're a powerhouse of destruction. However, the flipside is that as your Rumble Meter fills up, you are hurt more and more by your enemy, until a simple attack can send you flying offscreen, effectively making you a glass cannon. If you're knocked out, your Rumble Meter will reset to zero, so it's a high-risk, high-reward scenario. In addition, a higher Rumble Meter means more powerful attacks to use. Filling it up will allow you to use "Rumble Moves" that behave similarly to Hyper Combos from game slike Marvel vs Capcom, causing a large amount of damage to your enemies. Filling up your Rumble Meter completely will allow you to unleash your most powerful attack, the "Ultimate Rumble Move" which is similar to Final Smashes from Super Smash Bros. Its use will cause heavy damage to your enemy, although it will also cause your Rumble Meter to reset to zero.
