/What is this feeling.../

Thoughts crept across his mind as a strange, ominous essence filled the cavern. He opened his eyes from his slumber.

Getting up onto his feet from the cave floor, he made his way through the darkened, empty halls. The essence was getting closer... it felt strangely familiar but also drastically different. It was... dark.

The dripping of dew from the cave ceiling echoed as he silently drew himself down a passage way, away from the feeling. It was then that he sensed other essences nearby... navigating the cave system from different angles.

 He growled. /So be it. It appears they're looking for something... or someone./ He grit his teeth. /I must always be on the run, don't I?/

Suddenly, a small boom echoed through the cavern. Then another. And another. Suddenly, a plume of smoke appeared around the bend. He diverted himself quickly, dashing around another turn in surprise. /They're trying to get me to come out./ He thought, growling. /They're going to have to try to find out where I've gone, first./

Taking off the ground with a hover, he flew through the caverns at surprising speed. He knew one way that could divert them from him. At least, he hoped. Threading through each turn and passage, he navigated the familiar rock hallways that he had hoped would be his home.

Eventually, he came out from the cave system and out into the open- an entrance hidden within a cliffside clearing. There he hovered and landed back to the ground, closing his eyes.

/Too late... this was a trap already./

"Mewtwo," a voice range out hoarsely from the top of the cliff's side. A man dressed in dark apparel smirked. "So you decided to show yourself. Perfect."

Suddenly, from the forest surroundings, a band of humans and pokemon came from the shadows. The humans held weapons of some sort; the pokemon looked trained for battling. They all stared at the Mewtwo at the mouth of the cave.

"So you've drawn me out," he thought, telepathically connecting into each mind, "thinking that you can defeat me with this?" Mewtwo closed his eyes. "Try your hardest... it won't be good enough."

Growling from the side, a Rhydon among the group charged forward. Its blood-thirsty eyes narrowed as it prepared a full-on take-down of the psychic pokemon. Lunging forward, it sought to sink its horn right into the Mewtwo's heart.

Mewtwo opened his eyes. Immediately, the Rhydon slowed in its approach and lifted into the air. Without another thought, the Rhydon was forcefully hurled through the sky and into the distant treeline.

On that cue, the resounding pokemon surged forward as a mix of all different types, ranging from Raticate to Tyranitar. Some of them threw out their elemental moves; others prepared to fight head-on. Mewtwo's eyes glowed.

"Fools!" Mewtwo growled, throwing his arms forward. Immediately, a bright surge of psionic energy pulsed forward. The wave immediately struck and repulsed effortlessly each move thrown toward Mewtwo, in addition to every pokemon that ended up in its quickly advancing trajectory. Rocks and trees fell as blasts of different energies struck them down; in addition, a small crater surrounded the Mewtwo with fallen bodies of humans and pokemon alike.

The man above started to chuckle, quickly escalating into a horrific laugh. "Amazing!" he mused. He boarded onto a strange plate, which then levitated and brought him to the clearing below- only meters away from Mewtwo.

"You're as strong as I remember," he spoke euphorically. Dark eyes glared maliciously at the psychic pokemon in front of him. "I don't think you'll remember me, but I was one of the bystanders that watched you on your little rampage through cerulean city. You destroyed my home. You murdered many of who I held dear. I'm here to bring you to justice and use all that power for my own gain."

Mewtwo scoffed. "None of your pets will do a thing." He narrowed his eyes. "Go ahead. Assert what you'd call 'justice.' Nothing will excuse humans for their abominations."

"Maybe not," the man replied, "but we can correct it. That's what I'm here for."

The man pulled his black coat off, revealing a dark, gleaming belt strapped around his upper waist. There, in the middle, was a strange disc connected into the epicenter of what could be considered the "buckle." The man fiddled with the contraption with one hand, chuckling to himself while doing so.

"I'm going to bring you down myself," he muttered, "And take your power for my own."

The man pressed in the disc-shaped contraption, causing the belt to lock it in vertically and secure it in place. The belt then began to hum louder and louder, projecting a light until it surrounded the man. Immediately the bright silhouette shifted and changed. An immense energy flowed from his presence.

Mewtwo widened his eyes as his pupils narrowed drastically. "What..."

In place of the man stood an armored warrior of a sort. Dark eyes gazed out through a white shroud that wavered above his head. A thick red chestpiece shrouded the remainder of his face. a black elegant garb now donned his body with a long coat tail trailing behind and thick tails streaming into the air from his thick shoulders. long, black arms replaced those of the collected individual's. An ominous aura penetrated the air from the man's position.

"Prepare yourself," the man spoke, his voice as a harsh echo into the air. "For a real nightmare."

Welcome to my testing ground for the concept- Pokemon Gladiators!​

In this testing tutorial, I would like to try a very basic training concept involving almost a DnD-esque playstyle. Essentially, the mechanics of the roleplay will be handled statistically; however, the majority of the roleplay will be freeform, with limitless possibilities to explore the realm of which you'd traverse!​

This concept is to supplement the thought of the Pokemon Universe taking a different trajectory of the spreading pokemon battling craze. With technology in a rapid curve upward, scientists have become better and better at handling Pokemon through various means- one of which we come to know as the Pokeball. The tool itself is amazingly revolutionary; a tool left to the hands of 10-year-olds to capture and secure for themselves monsters of the region.​

In this twist, the concept goes into many scientists' efforts to splice genes of Pokemon to understand their nature; adversely, some groups have sought to weaponize them. Sourcing from this research, the industry Ulti co. designed a new form of pokeball with a new utility to match it- The DNActivator.​

The DNActivator is a belt that reads the genetic makeup of the wearer and personally identifies the wearer as the permanent wearer of the belt. The human's DNA is saved into the master file, which will be important to note as this is described.​

When a trainer catches a pokemon using a Poke-Disc (A flattened pokeball, really. Used to catch pokemon by throwing it like a frisbee), the trainer can take that Poke-Disc and attach it to the DNActivator's port which can be found as the primary "buckle centered at the front. Once secured, the DNActivator will read the pokemon's DNA within and copy the saving into a separate file on its drive.​

Here's the kicker- As soon as that pokemon's file is created, the DNActivator will then begin to synchronize a combined file of a copied file of the Master file and the file it created for the pokemon, creating a Fusion file. This file will be a digitally-spliced version of your DNA and the pokemon's DNA, to which it will prepare for successful use after its creation.​

As soon as the DNActivator has finished creating its fusion file, the trainer may press the Poke-Disc in, activating "fusion." This act is where the same technology to capture and energize pokemon into a pokeball is used to energize and revise the wearer's genetic structure. Upon completion, the wearer will be a successful fusion of themselves and the pokemon caught.​

Such a scientific revolution pushed to the forefront as pokemon and trainer no longer fought separately; rather, the trainer had become the combatant and the pokemon the supporting tool for battle!​

Pokemon Gladiators is a concept of true revolutionary pokemon battling that pushes the pokemon battling franchise forward. Few can get their hands on one; but as soon as they do, their status in the pokemon battling world is elevated.

For you, this means that you will be a revolutionary pioneer for the world. You will push battling world forward by participating in the gladiator hype. You will grow famous and lead many to strive for the dream of being the best!

So, essentially, the gameplay will be similar to that of DnD-- you will have stats, you will have some information to base your character and their progress from, but the entire world is yours to explore. Change the dynamic of moves; encourage the inquiring mind to try what no trainer has tried before. Become truly one with your pokemon. Fight for glory, gain and power. Strive for peace, justice, and joy in the world. Just hang out if you really feel like it.

That being said, anyone is welcome to help me try this out. What I will do is make a mock testing arena for each willing participant to try out each circumstance. Every participant will be given different variations in order to try different aspects of the gameplay. Almost all concepts given will be given into the official roleplay.
