Animal Crossing.

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by SecretWeapon, Jul 31, 2011.

  1. Please discuss your feelings on the animal crossing games. I have played all of them and enjoy them!!! I like getting super rich :) Lots and lots of bells...

  2. I actually like Animal Crossing a lot, and, for that matter, the majority games similar to it. I haven't had much playtime with the series since the original GameCube iteration, if only because I've been busy playing other games, honestly, that have caught my attention more than the DS and Wii versions of Animal Crossing have. However, you've hereby rekindled my interest entirely, SecretWeapon, so I'm gonna go see what's up at the local GameStop later. ;D

  3. ;) It is very fun and that is great :D

  4. Maybe I'll have to dig out my own Animal Crossing friend codes so that we can all connect up and have a sweet virtual house party/hide and seek game or something. That'd be kind of fun imo! A cool ZEJ cyber-meetup.

I frankly love the Animal Crossing series, but I'm not big on the new graphics for the version coming to the 3DS. It looks too stretched out and less stylistic than the original games, but I suppose they plan to make the best of that... maybe /fully/ customizable outfits are in store for us with the new version? Who knows.

  5. I used to play Animal crossing a lot.Though I went on a hiatus, probably due to one of those strands of time where I gave myself way too much to do. Due to the punishments for being away for a long time, I was never able to get back into it.

As for which one I liked most, the gamecube one was the best by far.

As for it coming to the 3DS, I dislike the taller sprites. I have a thing for midgets.

  6. My friend code for ds is: 0089-4262-2098

  7. Animal Crossing is awesome, just saying

  8. Massive two-year bump incoming!

So I'm bumping this thread casually to say that I just purchased Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the 3DS. I haven't played it yet but I fully intend to start playing it right now. So yeah, I'll holla at this thread when I've had a little bit of hands-on time with the game (as I will undoubtedly have two younger sisters looking over my shoulder whilest I play).

In the mean time, I have a story to share. Back in the days of Animal Crossing: Wild World's release, my younger sister (by two years) was looking at an article in Nintendo Power with me about the release of the game. They had prefaced the tile-patterns with the title of Animal Crossing Water World. She thought this was a new game, and completely bought into it when I joked around with her that it was, and I'd get it for her for her birthday. You have no idea how funny it was to my what, ten year old self? to pull that joke.

  9. ^ I was actually lurking here the other day and took that picture for shiz n gigglz wit da turbotaxa. That meme is so excellent. God bless Masahiro Sakurai.

Anywho, I've always been extremely intrigued by the Animal Crossing series. Unfortunately, my own experience with it has been fairly short, equating to about a week with the GameCube iteration before bringing it back to the rental shop as a kid. My mom told me it was "for babies" compared to what else I was playing (Zelda, etc.) and I was like "okay.jpeg". I'm enamored by the idea of it to this day, though, for whatever reason, and now that I have access to a debit card I'm contemplating purchasing the eShop version of New Leaf in the future, especially because Eebit has the game now, so we can terrorize each other's towns and stuff. :5

Speaking of Eebit, major props for the Water World-related joke. That pretty much must have equated to the time when I scared my own sister by turning off all of the lights, putting a push light in my shirt and pretending to be E.T. when she opened the bathroom door.

  10. @"LaTyrannia", @"Muddy", and I are planning what Tyran referred to as an "Animal Crossing orgy" this weekend. Would anyone care to join us in the festivities?

  11. Uhm... If I can find my copy of animal crossing, sure.

  12. I'm currently toying with purchasing New Leaf on the 3DS sometime this year. Not right this second, unfortunately, but maybe I'll be around for a future "orgy." :5

  13. I took a visit to Mudtown (Atula) today! I had a lovely rendezvous with a certain sleepy-looking @Muddy who was rockin' a sweet beret. When I got there, he showed me his standout, a scene from Madoka Magica:

After that, I plucked all the weeds in his town (there weren't many, but I felt like it was The Right Thing to do!) As a token of his appreciation, he led me upstairs to his room... where he cosplayed a Geisha. I had to make sure I smelled my best for the occasion; I didn't want to make a fool of myself, after all...!

Then, while he wasn't looking, I had to do some snoopin'. And lo' and behold...

Overall, it was a lovely little visit! Sometime soon, I will do a more thorough inspection of Atula. I really just needed signatures today, after all...!

  14. Animal Crossing in a nutshell:

"Hey welcome to town please wait a day before you actually have a house."
"Now that you have a house, you have to get a max approval rating! Who knows how long this will take :D"
"You got a max approval rating! Please wait AT LEAST a day before you have your development permit!"
"You finally got your permit! But oops please wait a day until the fishing tournament is over even though it actually ends at 6"
"You want to enact an ordinance? Please wait a day :D"
"Or, you want to build a public works project? We'll have to get donations and it's pretty costly so this might take a while."
"While you wait, why not go talk to the old mayor? Oh, you have to wait a day to go to the island."
"Once you finally get the project funded, you'll probably have to wait another day for it to be built. ^^"

    7.8/10 too much waiting

  15. So, what does everyone think about the new Animal Crossing titles for Wii U and 3DS? They've been seeing a lot of flack since the E3 reveals, and I think that's more centered around a new main-line title not coming to Wii U than it really is a true backlash against the spin-offs incoming, much like how I perceive the Metroid Prime: Federation Force fiasco and its intricacies. That said, I also don't find much personal value in being a home designer nor taking part in what's basically an even more relaxed Mario Party with AC characters - even with a spin-off, I think they could've gone much further with developing each (particularly amiibo festival), but I suppose these are more or less cash-ins to (hopefully) help in funding a future megaton AC title.
