D-Did....Saitama have a boobs sweater...? What the fuck? Saitama pls.

I find it kinda sad that Saitama isn't getting enough fans but whatever. Great episode.

  4. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Saitama has an amazing sense of style. Boob shirt and a glorious yellow spandex super suit.

I want to grow to be just like him.

  5. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

    He's also fucking sexy.

Though sometimes his face kills it.

So I just made the first post a bit more informative. Including anime recommendations! Categories aren't final (suggestions welcome.), and if you want to write up a mini-review for an anime, even if it already has one, go right ahead, and I'll (probably) add it to the post.

  8. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans is the shit.

    So is One Punch Man.

I'm also liking Asterisk War and Anti-Magic Academy 35th Test Platoon even though they're cliche

I also decided to put up a section for MALs, Hummingbirds, and the like. So post yours if you want it in the list.

    Here's my MAL: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Muddy256

And here's a small write up for Cowboy Bebop and why everybody should watch it:

Cowboy Bebop is an episodic action/comedy/what was this episode even about/drama anime about the adventures of the bounty hunters aboard the spaceship Bebop. It's also one of the highest rated anime ever, and not without reason! It has great characters, a phenomenal soundtrack, great animation and action sequences (The space chases are so good) and every story it tells feels different, you might be watching an episode about some guy accidentally getting everybody high on shrooms, and then a few episodes later, the main character might be fighting a terrorist group with a highly contagious virus that wants to revert humans into primates. All in all, it's an amazing anime that everybody should watch at least once, you'll surely fall in love with most of the characters and end up rewatching your favorite episodes.

if you watch FMA, don't watch Brotherhood first. If you only want to watch one, watch Brotherhood. It is incredible--you won't want to watch FMA if you watch it first, and I speak from experience there.

  12. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Personally I watched the original FMA first and then never bothered with Brotherhood because I didn't want to relearn everything I'd known about the story lol.

  13. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Brotherhood makes the original look like shit.

  14. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Meh, I'll watch it when I finish with my current list of 20+ anime

  15. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

I know this is a double post but whatever. Has anyone here checked out No Game No Life? I've been watching it recently and it's pretty cool so far.

  16. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Ya'll need to be watching Osomatsu-san. It's pretty much the best comedy ever.

  17. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

I've heard a bit in passing of Osomatsu-san, but ended up forgetting it amongst the dirge of homework and work-work after it was first announced. I'll definitely need to check it out; thanks for reminding me! I really dig that it's continuing the long lineage of Osomatsu glory that's stuck around since the 60s; if you think about it, it's really a major cultural deal for Japan for it to see yet another iteration added to its portfolio.

Did I already plug Natsume Yuujinchou/Natsume's Book of Friends here? Don't remember. Too bad, if I did (more-so in actuality, less-so sarcastically if I hadn't). It's a fantastic, emotional, folklore-respecting anime (and manga) with moments of levity that really come about to make you question why you were weeping to yourself just moments before.

  18. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

Ahahahahaha Comet Lucifer is actually a train wreck. It had so much potential at first too.

  19. RE: Unlimited Anime Works (aka the Anime Thread)

    Post-Season Write-up time! (Spoiler-less for your enjoyment)

So anyway, while the season isn't quite completely over, it basically is, so I thought I'd write up some toughts on everything.

This season, I dropped 8 anime. JK Meshi!, Kowabon, Lance N'Masques, Onsen Yousei Hakone-chan, Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou, Starmyu, Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note, and Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. Only one I dropped because it was of low quality was JK Meshi. Therest I just didn't want to catch up on after falling beind. In this group, I particularly like Hakone-chan and Starmyu. But I just couldn't keep up with everything, so all this had to be cut.

Comet Lucifer was an absolute trainwreck, despite showing such high potential from the first couple episode, and even keeping the potential throughout the show. In my opinion, it was trying way to hard, but in the end it just didn't matter what was going on in the series, as the plot holes piled up so much that there was virtually nothing left. 3/10. Biggest disappointment of the season

Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou truly leaves me wanting for words. Probably the most unique anime this season, it presents an alternate history where "superhumans," of many kinds are commonplace, and really tries to present what might happen if they were. The series has a nonlinear storytelling style: Instead of telling things in the exact order they happen, they instead do it by character arc. That said, there are two different time periods, set about five years apart, that are generally being told chronologically. It's really interesting seeing what's driving the characters to their actions in the "future" times, and the current lack of a true good guy/bad guy relationship is all the better for this series. Another interesting thing this series does is take real events and change them up to how they'd happen in this universe. All in all, this is a really impressive series that I can't wait to see the second season of. 8/10.

Digimon Adventure Tri. 1: Saikai was actually a little less than I expected out of Tri. I realize that it was just the first out of three movies, but as much as I loved Digimon Adventure back in the day, I just wasn't feeling it. Still, more Digimon is more Digimon. 6/10.

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk is a magic school battle harem. If you like that sort of thing like I do, go ahead and wath it. 4/10.

One Punch Man was certainly the most hyped thing this season, by far. I will say I thoroughly enjoyed it, and that it was technically very impressive. Unlike most, however, I really don't think it was the "best thing ever," or anything. It's not that it did anything wrong, I guess it just wasn't totally my thing. I found myself wanting more silly moments with the likes of Saitama, License-less Rider, Puri-Puri Prisoner, and the like, rather than the (admittedly very well animated) fight scenes. I'm not sure whether this says more about me or the show. 8/10

Garo: Guren no Tsuki has actually started to kind of disappoint me a little bit. Don't get me wrong, I'm still really liking it, and think it's very good, but it's hard to not compare it to the first Garo anime that aired not to long ago, which so far is really working against it. That said, being someone who really likes Japanese folklore, it's really interesting seeing what they're doing with it. We even got to see a retelling of The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter (aka "Princess Kaguya") that was pretty neat. The show is still just under halfway finished, though, so I'm holding out any "final judgement" until then. 7/10

Hacka Doll The Animation is another series that I just lack the words to really present my opinion. It's a high-octane reference comedy that's partly made by Trigger. With episodes around 5 minutes long, it has to be quick with its zany humor, and definitely succeeds in making a unique impression. 7/10.

Heavy Object is a series I can only really describe as "Metal Gear: The Anime."  While it certainly isn't as good as the Metal Gear series, it has the same general themes and similar action. It is certainly interesting seeing a world where superpowered war machines have replaced conventional armies, the author's lack of a sense of scale, and desire to ground everything in "reality" does work against it heavily, making a lot of the explanations seem really far-fetched. 6/10.

K: Return of Kings was certainly the anime I was most excited about at first. I honestly just love the K series, even if it's far from perfect. This series picked up right where the movie left off, and just feels like a continuation of K, which is exactly what I wanted out of it. 9/10.

Kagewani is easily the best monster horror I've seen in any medium: Anime, live-action, video game, or writing. This series has creeped me out more than anything else I've ever seen. Don't let the rotoscope style of animation throw you off. If you like horror - specifically monster horror - this is a must-watch. 8/10.

Komori-san wa Kotowarenai! is a series I really wish had longer episodes. At a measly two minutes per episode, including a short ED, it just doesn't have enough time to really present anything. That said, it is really cute, and every episode still manages to make me go "d'aw," which, I suppose, is enough. 5/10.

Lupin III (2015): Review pending until I catch up.

Osomatsu-san is, by far, my favorite thing airing this season. It just amazes me how it can be such a wacky comedy, and turn around and deliver something serious and down-to-earth. It's very much a 60s cartoon updated to the 21st century. I just absolutely love everything about it. 10/10. Anime of the Season

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry was certainly a surprisefor this season. It presented itself as a generic battle harem, but it turned out that there wasn't really much of a harem. From early on in the series, the main character and the heroine were boyfriend and girlfriend, basically taking out a common dynamic in this type of series. Nonetheless, the action was absolutely fantastic, and there were even some great, tense scenes that had little to no action. This series turned as many tropes as it could on their head, yet was still written pretty well. It was still squarely in the "generic power fantasy magic school battle harem" genre, but it stood out very well, and I was impressed. 7/10

Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Imatteiru was a wild ride of a mystery anime. It took cues from Western crime shows, like Law and Order and such, but "anime'd" them up a bit. The adult female protagonist was certainly a welcome change from most anime. The best thing about this show, for me, was its brilliant composition, both in writing and in visuals. Also, the final three episodes were very, very good (then again I might just be saying that because I relate to the characters in the episodes.). Also, Sakurako was definitely Best Girl of the Season. 8/10.

Shinmai Maou no Testament: Burst was basically precisely what I expected out of a second season of Shinmaou. That said, I did really like where they went with the story, and much of the action was more entertaining than I expected. Sure it's a bit more ecchi (nearly hentai, really) than I normally enjoy, but it's good nonetheless. 6/10.

Subete ga F ni Naru: The Perfect Insider was an oddball anime. A murder mystery with a fairly interesting twist, it had unique visuals and character interactions throughout the show, which was necessary considering the limited setting. Of all the things that aired this season, I think this is the one I want to see more of that hasn't gotten anything announced. I want to see how the events have affected the different characters' lives, and I want to see just what else is going to happen. I may start reading the novels sometime. 9/10.

Taimadou Gakuen 35 Shiken Shoutai is another entry into the "generic battle harems", but I've come to realize that I do really enjoy the genre. Honestly, there's not much I can say about it. If you want some interesting concepts (with character powers and worldbuilding), characters that aren't terrible, a little bit of ecchi, and a plot to keep you going, you're going to like this series as much as just about any other "battle harem." I will say that I like the direction this took at the end, even if it was a bit more "edgy" than my tastes usually line up with. 6/10.

Young Black Jack was a standout this season for sure. Medical drama based on, and acting as a prequel to, a manga series by none other than Osamu Tezuka, it was bound to be good from the beginning. I think what I like most, however, is the fact that it didn't try to update the series. It's set in the 60s, and uses real history, such as the Vietnam War, racial equality, among other things to create interesting events in the series. And, somehow, despite showing very little gore for being a medical show, it managed to make all the medical procedures really inteeresting to see. 9/10. Best OP of the season[/b]
