Pokémon X and Y

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous Conjectures' started by Lord X-Giga-X, Jan 8, 2013.

  1. The lizard's soooo cute. I know what electric I'll be training this gen!

  2. I actually like the Gogoat best of those~
I'm not usually a fan of the hooved Pokemon, but that design is detailed and it looks like a tough guy. Elikiteru's evolutions, though, I look forward to seeing. Even though an Electric-Normal type is weird.
    Yancham looks stupid.

  3. If you can ride Gogoat, I wonder what older Pokemon you can ride? Will it be only a few select one's, or any large quadrupeds? It will be an interesting mechanic, maybe replacing the bike? Although, if it's an HM, that would suck.

  4. I don't think it would be an HM, but probably a move ysed outside of battle, similar to stuff like Sweet Scent. I highly doubt it would be an ability, and I REALLY hope that if it is a move, it's a TM too, so you could teach it to whatever Pokemon are compatible with it, and Gogoat just learns it naturally... or something.

  5. The original trailer showed the player on roller skates so if anything replaces the bike it's that.

  6. I don't like most of the designs.. besides the starter pokemon, all of them just seem too complicated, especially the cover legendarys which are just plain weird. The deer one looks ok, but..the other one looks flat out bizzare..in fact, i'm pretty sure it can't even stand up. Does it walk on it's bottom hand..OK, why does it have a bottom hand? That's just weird! Oh, I see, it has two smaller feet on the middle of it...Ok, i'm gonna stop trying to figure this out.

  7. But but but

Yamchan is fucking amazing. In fact, only designs that are complicated so far are the two main legends, and maybe Sylveon. Otherwise they're pretty simple designs.

Heck, Farfetch'd and Jynx have more complicated designs than the three little Pokemon that were just revealed.

  8. Actually, Yveltal's design is deceptively simple. It's just the markings that make it look complicated.

Metashadow, one possible explanation for Yveltal's design is that it's very likely based on the yatagarasu, a crow from Japanese mythology that had three legs. The design is just gorgeous. <3

  9. Ah, now I see. It has two wings and a tail, that look like arms. Looking at the picture it still looks kinda weird to me, but maybe its just in a weird pose in the picture. Also, now that I think about, I thought his name was unpronounceable gibberish until I noticed the E.

About the other pokemon, I just think their kind of weird.Like, why does the deer have leafs on it's neck and back? Do plants natrually grow on it's back? The coala bear looks normal enough, except for the fact that it's head is abnormally huge and it can walk! I don't see much wrong with the others, though.

  10. this is in a universe where weeds can walk, tortoises have water cannons, and steel birds can fly.

    Deal with it.

  11. 1. Torterra.
    2. Panda.

  12. Well, tottera was different, since that was what it and all of it's pre-evoloutions were supposed to look. I mean, it's first form was called turtwig. I just thing that one had plants growing out of it''s back for seemingly no reason, and it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of it's design.

  13. Sawsbuck's antlers? Bulbasaur? Grovyle?

I'm sure it fits the concept.

  14. All of which are supposed to be related to plants, while the new one has leafs blantly inserted into it's design. There's a difference.

  15. Gogoat is a goat. Goats have beards. Beard replaced by leaves.

  16. I have a link here, for the May 12th Pokemon Smash. A synopsis is listed before the video, and the video is a little over an hour.

    Have fun kiddies.

  17. Gonna paste my little logic thing from the chat.

  18. ... What's the difference between this and Sawsbuck?

Sawsbuck just represents the seasons, which can be easily represented by ice in winter and fire in summer or something. Doesn't have to be about plants.

  19. So anyway, I wanna give some predictions as to, if the Fairy type is indeed hust that, what Pokemon may be changed.

    • Clefairy line -- Obvious.
    • Dratini Line -- okay, this may be strange, but to me, Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite are pretty much textbook fairy tale dragons. You could stick Dragonite into Dragon Tales and it wouldn't feel out of place at all! Plus, I like the idea of a Dragon/Fairy dual typing.
    • Togepi line -- Pretty obvious too, as they're seen as pretty much personifications of joy.
    • Celebi[/b] -- seen to have been almost killed by the poisoning of its forest in Pokemon 4 ever, Celebi is obviously extremely connected to nature, and has amazing magical powers. I could totally see its Psychic type replaced be Fairy.
    • Ralts Line -- The Ralts line, at least Ralts, Kirlia, and Gardevoir, are heavily connected to emotions. This, along with their... dainty... appearance, could easily give them a secondary Fairy type.
    • Jirachi -- Not sure which, but one of its types could be replaced by Fairy. It grants aishes, comes every thousand years iith the appearance of a comet, so Fairy definitely fits.
    • Lake Trio -- Pretty much the progenitors of emotion, they're even often called fairies!
    • Manaphy and Phione -- Everything about them.
    • Shaymin -- At least its Land Forme anyway.
    • Meleoletta -- I haven't played gen V, but from what I've read, Meleoletta could be a good fit for Fairy typing.

  20. FINALLY, MY TURN TO POST STUFF!

Anyway, it's once again time for the official game sites to be updated. This of course means high resolution versions of the screenshots and artwork. Like this:

Behold, the region of Karos, which will be known as Kalos in the US. The central city, Miare City, will be known as Lumiose City.

Of course, the new Pokemon have had their US names revealed as well. And their names are (for the most part) the same ones given to WPM by his source. (Be aware that while this may be true, anything else they have said is still unconfirmed and should be taken with a grain of salt until proven true or false.) Anyway...

    Gogoat keeps his name.

Elikiteru will be known as Helioptile.

Yancham will be known as Pancham

And Yayakoma will be known as Fletchling.

In addition, the moves Parting Remark and Parabola Charge will be known as Parting Shot and Parabolic Charge respectivily. Interestingly enough, the latter is the first case of a move name being longer than 12 characters.

Also, it's also been mentioned that at certain points throughout the game, we'll be given new outfits and accessories for further trainer customization.

Also, there's new game footage. Doesn't really reveal anything that hasn't been mentioned already, but it does show off the new Pokemon and Lumiose City.

And finally, we have the boxart:
