This, of course, assumes that you have previous knowledge of the standard Statplaying system, so I will omit the sections which are not new in nature. As for the first section, it should be self-explanatory and pretty much standard for the average Statplayer. The first new field that comes into view, though, is Rank. Right now, it is not particularly important, though we will go back to it again when we reach T-Abilities.

Now, we reach Stage Advancement, and more importantly, Dreamclass. In This Dream, the characters are, to say, "reconceptualized" during the transition between their homeworlds and Leiobea due to a powerful energy governing the realm called Dreamflow. It is due to this that there is NO Profession in This Dream, but something different which is called Dreamclass. Whereas a Profession ("the one who claims this Profession...") is what your character IS, a Dreamclass ("the one who claims This Dream...") is what your character HAS BECOME.

Obscure? Pretty much. Let us look at it from a different angle--a Profession details aspects that are similar to RPG "Classes" in nature, and are generally just what your character has learned to do, either by whim, by obligation, by heritage, and so on. Is a petty Thief content of his Profession? Most probably not, for maybe he  wanted to be a Paladin for his entire life, though circumstances led him down a different path. What about the case of the Black Mage who did not even want to become a Black Mage to start with? Her inherent potential to become an Alchemist was thoroughly ignored due to her training.

A Dreamclass, however is different in the sense it is instead based on the character's beliefs, forging dreams and fantasies into powers and abilities, and twisting one's past and memories into concepts which will profoundly define his or her new existence, without altering what he or she really is, or was. This is why it's important to understand the difference between the two, because in This Dream one is not bound by the laws of normality pertaining to other worlds, but is instead gifted with what could be called a very primal wish regarding one's identity.

    -----~---~---~-----

Moving on. Weapon, Armor and Accessory are identical to their regular Statplay versions, aside from the difference in the stat names, so fill them out accordingly. The section below is completely new, so pay attention.

Memory is, for the sake of comparison, a very special sort of Accessory. It CANNOT, by ANY MEANS, be removed or unequipped from the character, and instead faces alterations and modifications with Synthesis, Items, Level Ups, and most importantly, Stage Advancement (the TD equivalent of Job Promotion). Memory is one's last physical memento of their previous reality, and it is advised for it to be noteworthy in nature (although nothing extravagant, please). Regarding the bonuses, you should treat it as a regular Accessory.

Alignment is... Well. It is a core, intangible principle which has no visible effect whatsoever on any being by itself, but it still exists, ingrained within their very existences. An Alignment is actually composed of two sections--the actual Alignment, and a choice between the following Stats: Critical, Evasion, and Guard. There are three different Alignments, and the relationship between them can be attributed as some sort of Rock-Paper-Scissors gimmick. DREAM is effective against REASON, REASON is effective against HEART, and HEART is effective against DREAM.

Their actual "effectiveness" is rated according to the combat situation at hand in the form of varying degrees of immediate bonuses, but they primarily (at the beginning, at least) interact with your Stat of choice. That said, a REASON-Aligned with Critical attacking a DREAM-Aligned with Evasion will result in 1. REASON-Aligned's Critical being temporarily DECREASED, 2. DREAM-Aligned's Evasion being temporarily INCREASED and 3. Other possible calculation-only bonuses.

Now, Gauge Type is vital. It defines how the character's Flow Drive, an important addition to the entire system of This Dream, behaves in general. There is no predetermined list of Gauge Types, so it is up to you to decide the rewards and penalties regarding it. Unlike the Oblivion Phantasy series' X-Gauge, one's Flow Drive fluctuates according to player-set (and GM-approved) criteria, so that every character ends up having to fulfill different conditions in order to increase it. Obviously, unless you want to end up being useless, one's Gauge Type should be dependent on the type of character and his or her playstyle.

    -----~---~---~-----

Whew. Now for Abilities and Skills.

B-Ability stands for Battle Ability, and I will leave the rest to you. You know what to do. The only difference is that Hit Rate has been renamed to Accuracy, and the "MP Cost" will now be measured in DP, becoming a DP Cost.

T-Ability stands for Trait Ability. This is where it gets particularly interesting regarding customization. Inspired by a certain roguelike, Trait Abilities are small capacities pertaining to a character which start off insignificantly powerful, but given enough time and dedication spent in enhancing them, they can turn into a full-fledged combination of effects working for the character's favor.

The Trait Rank is basically the T-Ability's "Level", which can be increased by a certain number of Trait Points or TP denoted in the Rank Up section, but this is in turn limited by the character's own Rank. Returning to the top once again, Rank is the indicator of how powerful you are allowed to have your T-Abilities become. This value is automatically increased every few levels, and is denoted by Roman numerals by default.

Continuing with the others, a T-Ability's Class indicates how exactly powerful it is in relative comparison. There are three Trait Classes, which are Basic, Advanced, and Master. While a character is normally limited to 5 T-Abilities in total, only 3 of them are allowed to be upgraded to Advanced-Class, and out of these three only ONE is allowed to become a Master-Class Trait by the end. Finally, the Status is overall behavior of the T-Ability. Is it always taking effect? Then it is Passive. Can it be activated manually? Then it is Active. Does it get triggered when a certain event occurs? Then it is Trigger.

Your sole starting T-Ability begins with Rank I, as a Basic Class, and can be of any desired Status. The amount of Trait Points required for it to Rank Up is decided by the GM. And as an important note, purchasing a T-Ability costs a varying amount of TP, AND it is added as a Rank 0, which means it will remain completely inactive until it becomes a Rank I.

S-Ability stands for Special Ability (Got you, eh?), and it should be treated as an enhanced S-Ability--er, an enhanced SUPPORT Ability, I mean, regarding limitations and such. The catch, however, is that it MUST be Active. Or in other words, its activation must be manual and by the User, like an Excess Trigger except without the 5 X-Level cost. Feel free to be creative, it is named SPECIAL Ability for a reason, heh heh.

    -----~---~---~-----

C-Skill stands for Command Skill. It displays a list of additional, nonstandard Commands that are chosen by the player (with the exception of the default "Reflow" one) and may then be used normally the same way one can perform a Basic Attack or interact with the scenery with Trigger Commands. The starting list of available C-Skills is as it follows:

*Reflow: Initiates a Reflow Command, which interacts with one's Flow Drive and is the PRIMARY source of regarding DP in This Dream. It will be further detailed in the first battle of the RP. Obligatory pick.

*Focus: Increases the User's Critical Ratio for 1 Turn by an unspecified, varying amount. Exclusive to those who chose the Critical Stat on the Alignment field.

*Prepare: Increases the User's Evasion Ratio for 1 Turn by an unspecified, varying amount. Exclusive to those who chose the Evasion Stat on the Alignment field.

*Defend: Increases the User's Guard Ratio for 1 Turn by an unspecified, varying amount. Exclusive to those who chose the Guard Stat on the Alignment field.

*Sprint: Sacrifices one's Act Command in order to execute an additional Move Command for this Turn only.

*Cover: Covers a Target for 1 Turn, following the regular conditions set by the Covering or Covered Statuses. May result in special bonuses depending on the degree of such feat.

*Quick-Item: Sacrifices one's Act Command for this Turn, but allows for the User to execute a free Act Command involving an Inventory Item the next Turn.

*Break: Inflicts Basic Attack Damage, but Increases the Total Damage by 100% if used on an Object / Nature / Special Cell.

R-Skill stands for Response Skill, This Dream's equivalent of an R-Ability. No, you still cannot start with one.

D-Skill stands for Dream Skill. Remember how the S-Ability only restricted you to use an Active effect? The D-Skill would be This Dream's direct equivalent to a Support Ability (considering the fact that everyone seems to ignore Active S-Abilities do exist...), except it must, you guessed it, have a strictly Passive effect. A D-Skill has exactly the same level of restrictions as the conventional Statplay's S-Ability, so you should be familiar regarding what to do.

Finally, O-Flow stands for OverFlow. It is an immensely powerful and destructive ability, capable to completely pierce the enemy's defe--Okay, I know, you get it. Potential-wise, an O-Flow is equal to an X-Ability, but there are two important differences. One, its relationship with the Flow Drive is not absolute as it only requires 50% Flow to be able to be executed, and it does not use them up unlike X Levels. Two, it inflicts a special Status Condition known as Exhaustion, which exists as an obligatory drawback to prevent abuse. Nevertheless, proceed as you would with an X-Ability.

    -----~---~---~-----

    WE ARE ALMOST THERE!

Finally, Stats. Do not get intimidated by the strange, new abbreviations and names, for they are only there to give a sense of "detachment" from SP conventionalism. That, and because of the new existential laws of Leiobea, I felt the need to rename them. In This Dream, there are two Damage Types... Not Physical and Magical, but Corporeal and Ethereal. In addition, the absence of Mana or any other ordinary primary energy is balanced by the presence of Dreamflow in the form of DP, or Dreamflow Points.

HP and DP are Health and Dreamflow Points, respectively, and while the systematically behave the same as they normally would, the real value of DP has been... distorted, to say, due to the unorthodox mechanics centered around its restoration. Phy stands for Physical Points and Res stands for Resistance Points, and they both measure one's prowess in the Corporeal department in the sense of Atk and Def. Fnt stands for Fantasy Points, determining one's potential to create, to imagine, to dream about particularly anything; and Cog or Cognition Points is the counterpart to Fnt, as it gauges one's logic and rationality manifested as a theoretical shield for Ethereal attacks.

Reflow Rate is simplified as Reflow, and it is a key component along with the Reflow Command Skill and the Flow Drive in the restoration of DP, as stated earlier. The value is represented in the form of a percentage, which is the actual modifier on the exact quantity of DP to be restored. Generally, the Reflow Rate starts off ranging from 7% to 10%. What about the asterisk next to "Percent"? It is a placeholder Stat which is to be then replaced by either Critical, Evasion or Guard, depending on the Alignment of the character. Movement, hopefully you should know.

Now, the Flow Drive. The Gauge Type field sets, permanently unless special conditions are involved, how this meter behaves, or rather fluctuates. Each individual "bar" in the graphical display represents a 10%, and proper measurement should be done in a percentual manner. Despite the fact that having 50% Flow allows the usage of one's O-Flow, it is NOT the reason as to why it exists in first place. The Reflow Command Skill will interact with the Flow Gauge, therefore depleting it depending on how intelligently it's used, and using one's Reflow Rate as an immediate factor to calculate the exact DP Restoration value. How it EXACTLY works, will be explained In-RP, during the first battle.

Aaaaand! Skill Points and Upgrade Points have their exact purchasing and enhancing values, however now directed towards B-Abilities, D-Skills, and R-Skills in that order. S-Abilities, however, CANNOT be bought or upgraded by regular means; this is instead done by fulfilling other certain conditions, but these new methods will still require Skill and Upgrade Points. Trait Points are solely there to allow T-Abilities the possibility of Rank Ups, and are awarded at a rate of 2 per Level akin to Upgrade Points.

    I am done.

Oh wow. This should be it. Have any questions? Feel free to PM me, contact me in IRC, or just post them here~ Finished your profile? As the golden rule for my roleplays, PM it to me for approval.

  2. UPDATE: Due to the sheer number of participants-to-be, This Dream's signup will follow a rule of first come, first serve. There are now going to be, officially, SIX available player slots. If you have not started working on your profiles yet, and you still desire to join, I recommend you to start as soon as possible.

As I final note, please do take into account that I have the right to reject your application, to remove you from the roleplay due to inactivity, and to *irreversibly* replace you with another willing participant should it come to this.

  3. This Dream's Profile Thread is up. Post away~

  4. Finally, time for Reflow. As I stated before, three factors come into play regarding this concept--one's Flow Drive, the Reflow Command, and the Reflow Rate. They are equally important in their roles. Basically, a Reflow is a special procedure which is used in This Dream to regain DP. Instead of using one's DP until it runs out, to which point one would normally recur to Items or (in the Oblivion Phantasy Statplays) the Cycle Mana! Special Command, in here this is taken up to a new level of strategy.

Initiating Reflow: A Reflow is initiated by the Reflow Command Skill. This is noted in the way I did with the Gunner, and "officially" states one is entering said process.

Activating Flow%: The previous command is followed immediately with a certain percentage of one's Flow Drive. As a part of the Reflow Command, this is a process called Activating which is used to set aside a percentage (in intervals of 10%) of one's Flow Drive to be used for it. Activated Flow will be characterized by a white color. You cannot use, or rather Activate more Flow% than you currently have.

Reflow Rate: The Turn you initiate a Reflow, you will Restore a percentage of your Maximum DP equal to your current Reflow Rate. It determines the quantity of DP regained through this C-Skill, so obviously, a higher Reflow Rate usually means better DP Restoration. Do note that the Reflow Rate is subject to change during a Reflow Command.

DP Regeneration: Every Turn, a character who is Reflowing will continue to Restore DP until his or her Active Flow has been completely depleted, or reached 0%. To gauge this, you will need to set up an extra field called "Active Flow" to keep track of your character's current Active Flow, which will be decreased by 10% every Turn

Example: Suppose the Gunner initiates a Reflow using 2/5 of her Flow Drive, or rather, Activating 20% Flow. She has 30 Max DP, a Reflow Rate of 14%, and after using the C-Skill, her Flow Drive would look like this: {//////////}. The Turn she initiated Reflow, she will automatically regain 14% Max DP, or 4.2, rounded down to 4 DP. The next Turn, she will once again Restore 4 DP, but her Active Flow (Which would be previously noted as being 20%) would also be lowered to 10%. The third Turn, preceded by 4 more DP, her Active Flow will reach 0%, to which point the Reflow will have successfully ended. Her Flow Drive would, then, look like this: {//////////}.

Reflow Notes: While using a Reflow C-Skill, the Flow Drive will be unable to be further Increased. As previously stated, one's Reflow Rate is subject to be negatively impacted based on other factors while Reflowing. Also, using Reflow will consume an Act Command.

Reflow Cancel: Normally, one is able to use Reflow Cancel as a Free Act Command to interrupt their own Reflow. This, however, not only prevents the character from regaining DP through the remaining Active Flow he or she has, but also completely DEPLETES the entirety of the User's Active Flow. This is particularly dangerous when one has a large portion of their Flow Drive set as Active, since a Reflow Cancel can also be imposed to the character as an Added Effect, or general consequence.

Availability: Unless prevented by Atmosphere, special Status Conditions, or otherwise restricted from performing Act Commands, one is able to use the Reflow C-Skill anytime.

This took way longer than expected. If you have any questions, please DO NOT hesitate in asking them. This is rather a complex mechanic which will need to be monitored accordingly if it is to be successfully used.

  5. Naru, Flimzy. If you guys don't get a post in today, I'm skipping you. Because I'm going to update today.

EDIT: Time limit's extended to tomorrow.

  6. Ehm, guys? I'd like for TD to continue, thank you~

  7. Can anyone suggest an alternate way to do my changelog? This editor will not cooperate with me.

  8. Go to Options and select Source Mode for the editor, or do quick edit if you don't want to change your default editor.

  9. Book, Spaught, Xeno and Flimzy. If you're planning to post for This Dream, then the time to do so would be now. I will continue with the scene tentatively tomorrow, regardless of who has or has not posted yet, but you will definitely see a post up by Sunday. This would be your cues so as to now fall behind. Thank you~

  10. Er, Spaught? Where the hell did you get the context for Sekhmet's remark to Ebrethiel; that part about 'I agree, your role /was/ meager'? You seemed to fully imply he said it out loud, but it was clearly in his thoughts: the sentence Sekhmet is referring to is italicized and between apostrophes, not quotation marks. Therefore, thoughts. Not out loud. How could she have heard it. The closest Ebrethiel came to verbally acknowledging what happened in the battle is muttering "Whatever".
    ...
    ._.
Unless our resident aggro-deity can read minds. Then we're all screwed.

EDIT: On an unrelated note, I have new respect for Kip'yaia~ Standing up to Sekhmet like that. What a boss.

  11. It was probably just a misinterpretation. Typically apostrophes look too much like quote marks to immediately discern if it's thought. :p

  12. FUCK Yeah, I'm going to fix that ^^; Sorry

  13. "By the order of Ebrethiel, wolf, savage the bitch!"
And so Kip'yaia does. This will only encourage him further!... In the next battle, he'll try to use Lupynn Maul [Chance of Wound; Classified as Demon Peon] and then where will we be?! *mauled*

But yeah. Is Rina actually murdered? Obviously that position would kill a /normal/ person, in /reality/, but taking circumstances into account... Find out on the next episode of This Dre-- *mauled*

  14. Ugh, I am so sorry about my absence. I've been busy and haven't had the time. I'll see if I can get a post out.

EDIT: For now, I have to catch up.

  15. Reminder that TD needs to be posted on, we're just about to get to the second battle.

  16. I'll try to post for it soon, Sekhmet is still being held correct?

  17. Yes. I think I was supposed to release her this post but I forgot as I was making it. It'll have to be on the next one, then.

  18. I'm dead. Or, I wish I was.

I'll complete the draft that's literally been sitting in my box for a month. Unless someone has a complaint.

EDIT: Sorry if I sound like an ass, I probably shouldn't even be typing anything now but if not now, I'll never do it.

  19. Someone tell Ebrethiel to stfu, I like having Sekhmet in the party.

I actually also feel like I should note, how Ebrethiel is portrayed doesn't even [fully] reflect my true ideas about demons. At this stage in his development, he's basically going off of stereotypes and generalizations.

Shadow go do beneficial An Things for TD now we don't want to see this SP get anything less than what it deserves.

I disclaim any offensive writings by way of sleepiness.
