The number of the character determines who their rival is. For example, Spider-Man and Mario both have the number one, which means they're rivals. If you have questions as to why some characters are rivals, please ask because I want to be as clear as possible.

Once again, I've decided to make some Marvel vs Nintendo ideas. Feel free to comment, make suggestions, and ask questions.

  2. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

To me it seems Marvel seems a little more adult and graphic to go against more child-friendly characters like Mario and Pikachu. Deadpool is a trained assassin in killing; Kirby is a little pink ball that fights little monsters, who don't graphically die. See the problem here? I don't see Pikachu actually killing somebody and the cartoons support that.

It's a good idea, but in my mind it looks like a child's dreams fighting and adult's problems and ambitions. It's a really ugly clash.

But the matching is really good. :D

  3. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Actually, most things involving Marvel aren't very graphic, at all. It's cartoons were made with children in mind, and even most of it's movies don't have anything 'bad' other than violence and some language. In fact, most Marvel superheroes, and even some villains, don't kill anyone. Deadpool might kill people, but most of the time he's portrayed as being funny, with a tone kind of like some Nintendo franchises have. Some Nintendo villains have actually killed as well. Ridley killed Samus' parents, and almost everyone else aboard the ship they were on, and who knows how many people Ganondorf has killed? Despite all of this, most heroes from both sides would never intentionally kill anyone. Also, thanks for the support. This would be my ultimate dream crossover, even though it might never happen. It would be so awesome though. :D

  4. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

I'm all for both this and Nintendo vs. Capcom to happen one day, since, in my opinion, they both sound like novel ideas. Who knows if Marvel vs. Nintendo would be a "special iteration" of Smash Bros. or play more traditionally, though if it did play like a traditional fighter, that'd be Nintendo's first since Joy Mech Fight for the Famicom, released way back in 1993, so that'd be cool to see what they did with it. Of course, Nintendo can always commission Capcom or SNK, one of the two fighting game developing deities, or even Namco-Bandai and receive some kind of decent engine to base things off of, after Street Fighter, The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Darkstalkers, vs. Capcom, Soul Calibur, Tekken, and others, from each respective company. However, I'd think that, perhaps under the SORA label to work Sakurai's brain noodle in a slightly different way than usual for a fighting game, they could create a very functional traditional 2D playing field for a game such as Marvel vs. Nintendo.

As for the character list, I like who I see so far! Are you adding anyone else to this list? Because, if you are, I have a couple of recommendations: Ghost Rider and Captain Falcon. They're both essential bounty hunters who control some amount of flames in some of their "special moves", though of course their histories, personalities, and actual battle techniques are far from similar, making them good potential rivals, in my eyes.

  5. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

I would really really REALLY like Marvel vs Nintendo to happen too, just because it would be AWESOME, but unfortunately, I don't think it's likely, even though I would like to be proven wrong. Nintendo vs Capcom would be cool too, and I think it will happen. Ghost Rider vs Captain Falcon sounds like a great match-up, and you forgot possibly the best reason for them being rivals, they're heavy association with vehicles. Ghost Rider often rides on his motorcycle, and F-Zero is a racing game. But I already have Captain Falcon on this list as a rival for Daredevil. I imagine I'll put Ghost Rider on here at some point, but I'll need to think about who could be his rival. Also, I've added some new characters on the list.

  6. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Perhaps Ghost Rider's rival could be either Black Shadow or Deathborn, also from F-Zero, or Mach Rider? Mach Rider even uses a motorcycle, though I'd imagine he could use oil slick, explosives, and all sorts of chain-based attacks, though perhaps in a different style than Ghost Rider so that they could make it work properly without them being clone-esque. Yeah, I agree that Marvel vs. Nintendo would be pretty darn cool, boy-o! I think it's possible, though as you said, unfortunately entirely unlikely. Who knows what'll go on in the future though? A general PR response, I know, but think about it: Mario and Sonic were the biggest rivals in gaming history only a little less than 20 years ago, and now they're best buds, workin' the Olympic Games together? With any luck... We'll get Marvel vs. Nintendo and not Mario and Spider-Man at the Olympic Games. :p

  7. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Ghost Rider and Mach Rider are very similar, they even have the same last names. :p And compared to some crossovers, Marvel vs Nintendo is very possible. There's Kingdom Hearts, and quite possibly the weirdest crossover I've ever heard of, Nicktoons MLB. I mean, Spongebob Squarepants and Invader Zim on the same team as the New York Yankees? Yes, you heard me right.

  8. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Maybe they're lost twins, separated by TAAO because they were too potent to live within the same universe? :p And I agree whole-heartedly with your reasoning. Nicktoons MLB? My goodness. Derek Jeter and SpongeBob SquarePants in the same game? Verrrry interesting. Marvel vs. Capcom though would beat that crossover :5

  9. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Hahaha, I was thinking about a battle against Link and Wolverine, my thought was that it would be almost a fair fight. It really all depends on what weapons Link has.

  10. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Hahahaha, as much as I'd like Marvel vs. Nintendo (Captain Falcon in a true 2D fighter? SIGN ME UP!!), it's extremely unlikely. Has Ninty ever put out a true fighting game like Street Fighter? There's Joy Mech Fight, but that was years ago in the grand NES era. The reason it works is because Capcom is pro at 2D fighters. They make all kinds of fighters (anyone remember the Jojo's Bizarre Adventures fighting game by Capcom?).

Plus, Ninty vs. Marvel probably wouldn't go down too well with Capcom. It probably doesn't matter, but I bet that they wouldn't like it, and it would cause some serious problems either to the MvC series or the theoretical release of MvN.

Were this to come about, however, Ghost Rider has no other acceptable rival other than Captain Falcon.

Both are badass (This is FACT.). Both have fire elements. Both drive fast and awesome vehicles. Both are bounty hunters (in a sense, Ghost Rider hunts down sinners, Captain Falcon used to be a bounty hunter).

Besides, it's too badass to say no to, heh heh heh.

  11. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

    Wario fightin Venom. Nuff' said.

Could've thought of something better. ;D

  12. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Vero - Yeah, Wolverine vs Link would be mostly even, but there's really nothing Link could to do harm Wolverine.

Knightmare - I don't see why Capcom would have a problem with it. Nintendo and Capcom are on good terms, though I can see why Capcom would feel it was being ripped off, but I could see it going better than most other crossover possibilities.

Fuzzydude - Much like the Ghost Rider vs Captain Falcon suggestion, I've already put Venom on this list. I'll probably put Wario on this list though.

  13. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Actually, Link could potentially wield a weapon very similar to what killed Wolverine in Origins, the silver arrow, which I would imagine could harm Wolverine if it could slaughter a god-like, omnipotent Ganondorf complete with trident, entire Triforce in-hand, magical powers up the wazumba (lolzumba), and a super massive, super powerful piggy biggy body. They're more than evenly matched in a fighting game like Marvel vs. Capcom, what, with Wolverine's immense "natural" super mutant abilities paired with Link's vast array of items paired with his somehow great swordsmanship, even with all of these items placed in his endless invisible sack. (Santa = original [Skyward Sword?] Link's grandpa) Just some food for thought, haha. It'd be pretty cool for a (good) Nintendo and (good) Marvel character to fight between one another, and given that it'd be non-canonical, anything can go. Would Mario plausibly defeat Ganondorf in some sort of canon, Dragon Ball Z "omgwefused" universe? Would Jigglypuff even be able to bring harm to Bowser, or put a robot like R.O.B. to sleep? Fighting crossovers are fun because they usually aren't any plausible form of canon story, so anything can go really. After all, would Pikachu truly stand a chance against Thor? :5 All in all, though, no harm meant. Like I said, just some food for thought. Mmmmm, noodles...

    M.O.D.O.K vs. Mother Brain ftw

  14. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

    ^ This.

  15. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

Jonno - Assuming the Master Sword can counter Adamantium, and vice versa, Wolverine vs Link would probably be a fair fight, at least for as long as they fight with their respective weapons.

Fuzzydude - lol, that's funny. :D I'm not sure if I'll put either character on my list, but that would be funny.

  16. RE: Marvel vs Nintendo

My character list is now complete! For now... Actually, it's been completed since early this week. For now... :D Now, I think I'll work on stages. Any ideas?
